I provide counselling services for individuals with developmental delays in the community as well as involved with law. These individuals may have intellectual delays or/and learning disability too. People with developmental delay and learning difficulties can acquire new skills. However, the acquisition of skills is at a different rate requiring appropriately designed teaching strategies. Research has suggested that cognitive deficits/learning disability is only one of many factors that influence parenting behaviour. Intervention is tailor-made to address issues in a modified approach emphasising a plain language communication. I subscribe to non-pathological and empowering strategies to provide services to this group of individuals. An effort is made to reduce behavioural problems, improve social functioning, and remedy the legal challenges in which forensic clients find themselves.
I also provide consultation services for comprehensive case management to various agencies dealing with individuals with developmental delays and intellectual delays
